Anna Meares OAM will headline a star-studded presenter’s list for the Tasmanian Speaker Showcase “Inspire, Innovate, Motivate” at Wrest Point on Wednesday, 13 June.
Australia’s greatest ever female cyclist will be joined by digital disruptor Steve Sammartino, former Premier of Tasmania David Bartlett and one of Australia’s most recognisable voices Robyn Moore at the breakfast event hosted by comedian Peter Rowsthorn.
Wrest Point Conference and Events Sales Manager Kim Upton said that the showcase is an opportunity to motivate teams and gain new leadership insights.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Anna Meares as part of the Tasmanian Speaker Showcase,” she said.
“Her story is one of courage in the face of adversity – a courage that saw her achieve sporting greatness at the highest level. It doesn’t get much more inspiring than that.”
Now a household name and one of Australia’s Olympic greats, Meares was the first Australian athlete to win medals at four successive Olympic Games.
Her elite cycling career spanned 15 years, yielding 18 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 10 bronze medals at Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games level.
Meares overcame major life-threatening trauma to realise her dream. An horrific crash during the World Cup in Los Angeles left her with a broken neck just seven months shy of the Beijing Olympics. Meares recovered to deliver a silver medal – a remarkable achievement and career defining show of determination and will.
Meares’ longstanding rivalry with British cyclist Victoria Pendleton spurred her on to become the most successful and decorated female track cyclist in history.
Now a successful author and guest speaker, Anna Meares will share her stories of heartache and success at this special breakfast event.
The Tasmanian Speakers Showcase, presented by ICMI, Wrest Point and Leishman Associates, is a must-see for conference and event organisers, human resources professionals, leaders and aspiring leaders, coaches and trainers.
